Why is summer going so fast? Can someone
tell the Season God that I am not ready for fall yet!!! I have so many more
summer type activities to engage in!!! Wait, I think the Universe is speaking
to me now... Dian, don’t worry. It’s only the
beginning of August and there’s still time to get the summer vibe out of your
system... there are still plenty of Hotspots... so go... go... Wow!
Ask and you shall receive.. well, lookie there, I just had to change my
perspective! The Season is half full rather than half empty!!! Yahooooo!!!!
Soooooooooo.. about those Hotspots...
Love Vegas? Wait ‘til you hear this
Hotspot!!! “LGBT community will own Las Vegas once again as GAY
NIGHTS LAS VEGAS, presented by MGM Resorts
International, raises the neon rainbow flag for an indulgent four-day party
weekend August 4-7,” say promoters!! Here are some of the things you can enjoy
while there: The ABSOLUT Hotspot hospitality lounge, mingle with Cirque Du
Soleil members and see some of their shows, dining, pool parties, party nights
and more!! There will be events going on at several major hotels such as
Mandalay Bay, Mirage, and Monte Carlo. Now come on! Can you not see those
little tram cars filled to the brim with lesbos and gays??? ::::::::::::::ca-ching!!:::::::::::::
I can hear the dice rolling now!! Who am I fooling??? I get as far as the slots
and that’s it. But I love the lights, the energy, the entertainment, the
naked.. ::::::::::::::::screech::::::::::::: the rest of my thoughts are
private, thank you very much!!!! And get this, it benefits The Center, Snapi
and HRC!!! Now how much better can it get than that? Vegas and for a cause!
Bring it on baby!!! For more info, gamble on this website. It’s a sure thing: www.gaynights.com.
How about you women who love the
outdoors, music and camping? This month, it’s the annual
MICHIGAN WOMYNS MUSIC FESTIVAL on August 2-7. I bet you can’t
guess where the festival will be? HA! Was just seeing if you were listening
<said in my best snarky, sarcastic voice>!!! Of course you could guess
this one! It was just too easy! But don’t you worry my little pretty.. Ahem..
oops.. sorry.. Sooooo, as I was typing, this outdoor festival is a
one-of-a-kind event. The get down, get dirty girls can come out for this one.
Camp under the moonlight and hang out with your home-girls, spouse, girlfriend
or as often heard by the chicks in The Real L Word who say, “your Debs.” And
this is a music festival so you are going to be entertained the whole time you
are there!! There’s always so many things to do at one of these festivals. They
have vendors, workshops, and all sorts of organized things to do.. but ya
better like roughing it. I love the idea of watching music for days on end but
without my computer, ipad, gadgets, air conditioner.. not that I’m saying I’m
<cough> high maintenance <cough> but I just like having the little
necessities of life that I have become so accustomed to.... Do you think they
have a Timeshare nearby? <gigglesnort> They have outdoor showers.. That
sounds interesting.. Okay, okay.. put me on that stage and I’m so there!!! If
this sounds like something you’d love, step over the porta potty and type: michfest.com.
THIS PRIDE FEST NEEDS YOU!! Down
behind the Orange Curtain (which is now a rainbow curtain) OC
PRIDE FESTIVAL will be shakin’ up the town on August
13th from Noon to 10pm in Irvine, California! It’s a one day event and it needs
to get back in size to the festival it once used to be before it ended. I
remember OC Pride as something I looked so forward to every year. It was
getting quite huge and then bam! It suddenly was gone for years! This festival
definitely has received some attention and has a history to it. OC Pride’s home
has moved on several occasions. It started out in one location and then, “Angry
Christian conservatives showed up carrying urine-filled balloons, taunted
attendees with chants of ‘Go back to your closet,’ and hired an airplane to fly
over the event carrying a banner reading, ‘Sodomites out of Santa Ana! No AIDS
in OC!’ While most gay festivals struggled for media attention, OC's was
featured on nationwide television thanks to a fistfight that ended in riot
police, six arrests and a tickled Reverend Lou Sheldon
declaring, ‘We just want to show these people their sins and lead them down the
right path,” quoted from Scott Moxley’s column.
Well, last year, OC Pride started back up in another location. It’s between
Verizon Amphitheater and Wild Rivers Waterpark. It has a whole different flavor
in its new home which could make it a wonderful experience for lgbt AND their
families and friends. However, it has to keep growing in order to stay where it
is. So please get out and support this festival. For more info, head to The OC
and type: PrideOC.com.
LA girls, I haven’t forgotten you!! Come
rock it at the ANNUAL SUNSET JUNCTION STREET FAIR
on August 27-28. This fair celebrates diversity!! “Formed in December of 1979,
the Sunset Junction Neighborhood Alliance was created to acknowledge and
celebrate the diversity that exists in the neighborhoods of Silver Lake, Echo
Park and Los Feliz. This area of Los Angeles has long been recognized as an
area where Artists, Gen X, Gen Y, Latinos, Gays, Lesbians, Students and
entertainment moguls strive to live in harmony through mutual acceptance and
respect for each other’s way of life,” says Sunset Junction Promoters. There’s
vendors, food, and entertainment all ovah the place! If you have never been to
a street fair, you gotta go try this! Sounds like a fun time if you ask me! You
are asking me aren’t you? Oh what-evah!! For more information on this fabulous
event, dance over to the puder and type: www.sunsetjunction.org.

wearing your sunscreen whenever you are outdoors. That’s an order from this
